It's Wednesday. Here's the deal....

Today, I want to see a printout from every group. I will correct it for grammar and spelling and offer suggestions. You will have another day in the computer lab. Make good use of your time. I need to stress again what a large portion of your grade this is. Merely completing it isn't enough. You must complete it well and be prepared.

Your classmates will have worksheets to fill out while your speaking. We will probably do two presentations per day. If the discussion warrants, we'll continue through the whole period. At the end of the debate and discussion, we'll take a class vote on the bill to see if it passed.

I will need a copy of the bill in front of me as you're presenting. Do NOT pass a single sheet of paper or the bill from hand to hand and take turns reading. Show me that you're prepared. Try and fool me into believing that you know the subject matter of your bill.

Tuesday Update

Read this carefully.

Many, if not most, of you are having a hard time figuring out this whole "group project" thing. A group project means you do stuff together. You argue and come to consensus together. You "compromise", just like the US Government does. But I have seen little group work. There are a couple of groups, and I know who they are, who are talking things out and all working towards a group goal. And then there are the people who are on unrelated websites and not talking with each other. I'm not sure what you think happens in college, but this is the closest thing you'll probably do at this school to what you'll do next year. You will be forced into groups with people you don't like, you'll have your grade be dependent on others. You'll have to take a class for which you have no interest. In fact, this type of thing will follow you into the work world. So grow up! Get to work. Talk with each other. You don't have to be best friends to complete a common task. Congresspeople hate each other, but they still need to work with each other.

AND WHEN I SAY EACH GROUP HAS TO SEND ME A COMMENT, THAT MEANS 9 GROUPS, NOT FOUR.

Under the comments section today, I want you to give me a compelling reason why you won't be ready to present tomorrow. A couple rules first:

I don't want to see a comment by Creech or Crandell or Sharon because I've seen too much of you on websites that weren't helping your group.

Number two: You cannot use as an excuse, "my group isn't doing any work."

However, if I've seen you working and dividing up the tasks and asking good questions, then maybe, just maybe, I'll put your group at the end of the list.

You are going to be unpleasantly surprised when you get your grades on this.

Friday and Weekend Update Goes Here

Hey. I need to know your thesis statement about your bill. For example, not "marijuana legalization" but "Citizens over the age of 18 are legally allowed to buy and possess half an ounce of marijuana for personal use" or something. Be specific.

Leave your names and group number in your comment. Non-useful comments will be punished.
